Anette Harboe Flensburg

Anette Harboe Flensburg

Anette Harboe Flensburgis renowned for her monumental interior paintings, characterized by their rigorous geometric composition of vertical and horizontal lines. Through a masterful interplay of light and shadow, she effortlessly draws the viewer into the depths of the canvas. The quiet, empty spaces within her works echo the real world while simultaneously unfolding a unique, meditative universe entirely her own.

As a foundation for her paintings, Flensburg constructs physical miniature models out of foam board, screens, and transparent surfaces, meticulously assembled with pins. Photographic documentation of these models serves as essential preliminary studies for her large-scale canvases. Through them, the viewer is guided through a labyrinth of virtual corridors where surfaces and colors assume abstract qualities, aligning with the traditions of the early 20th-century avant-garde.

In her photogravure project, Flensburg invites the viewer behind the scenes of her artistic process. These photo-based graphic works create a dreamlike reality - a labyrinthine world where the eye wanders freely through the spaces, searching for an exit.
